BEAN DETAILS: ORIGIN: Huila, Colombia PRODUCER: Multiple Smallholder farmers ELEVATION: 1600-2100 masl VARIETY: 16% Sidra 21% Java 3% Gesha 40% Caturra/Colombia (most of which was processed with Yeast) 18% Pink Bourbon 2% Yellow Bourbon PROCESS: Washed + Yeast + Extended Fermentation TASTING NOTES: Fruit punch, fruit salad, grape, cherry, white wine grape ROAST TYPE: Light Farm Level Las Perlitas is a community lot of exceptional quality from smallholder producers in Huila, Colombia. Oftentimes, a lot from a single producer may be too small to logistically separate and export and will be sold in a local market or will be blended in with other lots of varying quality to create a regional blend that can muddy transparency in the supply chain and doesn't necessarily financially compensate for higher cup quality. Because of this, community lots can be attached to a preconceived notion that their quality will be lower than a separated lot from a single producer. With more intentional separating, community lots serve as a great way to increase market access to smallholders across various tiers of quality for their harvests and can result in incredible coffees.
