Flat burrs tend to produce a more uniform particle distribution than conical burrs, which matters when you're brewing by immersion or percolation. More uniformity means more even extraction, which means the cup tastes more like the coffee and less like the grind. Gen 2 carries over what worked on the original Ode and tightens what didn't. Single-dose loading keeps beans fresh. A magnetically-aligned catch cup holds the grinds in place during transfer. A built-in knocker helps release retention so more of the coffee you weighed actually lands in your brewer.
