Why Use a Calibrated Coffee Tamper? Calibrated and Self Levelling Coffee Tampers are the future of tamping coffee, they are set to give the same consistent pressure every time (completly removing a variable to consider when dialling in your coffee) and can be customised to tamp down to a predetermined height, perfect for using different coffees, doses or different sized coffee baskets. As well as the built in spring these coffee tampers have a lip around the edge of the tamper that sit's flush on the portafilter ensuring that there is no uneven tamping at an angle. This combined wit the consistent tamping pressure gives you a much greater chance at avoiding channeling and making tasty espresso every time. The tamper sits perfectly on the tamping mat and allows you to keep your tamper dry from any drips due to the raised impressions. This Espresso Accessory Kit includes a tamper and dosing ring that are both 58mm. Tampers come in a huge range of different sizes but by far the most common size is 58mm as it is used in most commercial coffee machines and a lot of domestic pro-sumer espresso machines. Before purchasing any accessories for your espresso machine we advise confirming the sizing of this with the manufacturer.
