Kaffi, Icelandic for coffee, is a rotating single origin coffee that you can count on for your classic, everyday cup. Medium or medium dark roast. Our current Kaffi is a natural processed coffee from Mogiana, Brazil. Whole Bean Roast level: Dark Region: Mogiana Altitude: 800-1300m Process: Natural Variety: Acaiá, catuia, caturra, mundo novo Farm/Producer: Small holder farms The Mogiana region, which runs along the São Paulo and Minas Gerais border, is home to some of the most consistently sweet and well-structured naturals produced in Brazil. The region boasts 3500 farmers cultivating a combined area of 202,000ha. The lots are hand selected from individual farms and processed to create a smooth, clean, highly consistent end product. Brazil is the largest coffee producer in the world, and production of coffee in Brazil is unique, in that Brazilian farms tend to have flatter elevations, less shade cover, and more manicured fields. They also use mechanical harvesters and produce far more coffee per hectare than other origins.
